Frankie’s Beans Sydney
Frankie wastes no time getting the show rolling with perhaps the most significant game changing brew we’ve had in a very long time. The F.A.B. or Fractional Atmospheric Brew process extracts a nectar from the El Salvador origin beans that is at once ethereal in its lightness and yet definitive in its origin’s notes.
Meet Mica Café Sydney
We sat down with Mica Chen who recently opened Meet Mica to learn a little about her, and what brought her to open a cafe. At the end of the conversation, what became apparent was that you could take prescribed paths that parents and family “encourage”, but ultimately what you choose to do is going to come from your own passion.
Normcore Coffee Roasters
Unpretentious, normal-looking, casual, high quality has defined the Normcore trend from its beginnings. Now, there is a café in the Sydney CBD that epitomises Normcore culture and has people lined up to be part of it.
Regiment Café Sydney
Just occasionally a café opens, and there’s an instant magnetism that draws hordes of coffee lovers from all over the city to its digs. One of the shining examples of that magnetism has been the opening of Regiment. It really has captured the imagination of city folk and is one is of the coolest spots in the city. If you think you can waltz in at 10:30am and sneak a cheeky coffee alone, think again, as the traffic in and out is persistent.

Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, & Cheese Stuffed Zeppole Recipe
Italians have a million excuses to get together and enjoy the thing they do best, food. Sure, you’ll always find the traditional standbys like arancini, antipasto, and cotoletta, but more often than not, Nonna will whip up a stack of zeppole to be quickly devoured by zias, zios, and bambinos alike.
Society Di Catania | Potts Point | Video Review
There’s pizza and then there’s PIZZA. In a world dominated by “Pizza Value Meals” delivered on the back of a scooter, it can be easy to forget what real pizza actually tastes like. Real pizza comes from the passion of the pizzaiolos, who hone their craft so we can experience the simple joy that quality pizza promises. That passion and promise are definitely being delivered to the table at Society Di Catania in Sydney’s Potts Point.
The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
Is tea the new coffee? Those are dangerous words in a coffee-obsessed city like Sydney! OK, I’m not looking to get caught up in the crossfire of the ongoing favourite beverage battle. Can’t we all just get along? Let’s all remember, tea has been around for eons before us crazy humans decided to randomly start burning the seeds inside a coffee berry, grind them up, add water, and for some unknown reason…drink it?!
Yayoi Garden | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
Yayoi Garden is part of a group of restaurants headquartered in Tokyo. The first of its restaurants opened in 1886 and now the group have restaurants across Asia, Australia, and the US. Not to be confused with Yayoi, it’s sister operation opening in various sites across Sydney, Yayoi Garden is a step up on refinement and quality of food. Its location, on the corner of Bridge and Loftus Streets, sees it in an area of Sydney city that’s lined with quality restaurants.
Little Jean | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
I can recall, almost with the salty taste of the ocean on my lips, long summer days of my mis-spent youth lazing around eastern suburb beaches – the infamous Bondi, Bronte, and Coogee. As the sun slowly set, with sand in our hair and salt on our skin, and famished from being too lazy to get off our towels to venture off for food, my girlfriends and I often made a pit-stop in Double Bay to satisfy that hunger in its café lined streets.
Chefs Gallery | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
If you are in the Sydney CBD and happen to be around Town Hall Regent Place, it would be hard to miss the large neon signs facing Bathurst Street the beam out the name Chefs Gallery. Quite distinct as well, is the queue of patrons patiently waiting for a prized table or seat by the glassed bar to watch the chefs at work.
Japan’s Best Jam | Food Video
It’s no secret that we have a very special spot in our hearts for Japan and all that is Japanese, so when an email dropped into the Coco & Vine inbox with a heads-up about a Japanese premium jam about to hit the shelves in Sydney, you know we’re going to be bringing some bread and butter! I know, you’re probably thinking, what’s the big deal about jam? Hear us out for a second though! This jam will make you re-think what a true quality jam can be.

Smoking Gun Bagels | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
Montreal-style bagels have reached the shores of Sydney, Australia! In some Australian cafes, you can sometimes get bagels, in the form of plain or seeded that you eat with cream cheese, peanut butter, butter or blueberry-flavoured. But Smoking Gun Bagels are wood-fired and made on-premises with fillings that are out of this world!
Hotel Bondi | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
When I moved to Sydney just on 20 years ago, like any newcomer or tourist, I was drawn to Bondi Beach. That first peek of the ocean as you come over the rise on Bondi Road filled me with awe and anticipation. Bondi Beach is an iconic beach, and is only surpassed by the Opera House, and Harbour Bridge as destinations to tick off the bucket list for visitors to our shores. Food on the other hand didn’t scale the same heights until the last decade, with hatted restaurants that now bookend Bondi Beach. Over the past 5 years especially, I have noticed a real step up in quality with seriously good coffee and breakfast fare popping up. Hotel Bondi has joined the party so to speak with a makeover in both its interior and menu.
Mekong | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
Kensington Street goes from strength to strength with the addition of Mekong. Chef Tiw Rakarin (Mama’s Buoi, Bang Luck) takes diners on a journey through Indochina, with a menu that draws inspiration and flavours from the region. Sydney is spoilt with an array of cheap and cheerful eateries which showcase the street food cuisine of continental Asia. Mekong offers a fine dining experience, with an emphasis on providing the flavours you are used to, complemented with innovative techniques and a level of refinement akin to David Thompson’s Sailors Thai and Longrain.
The Roots Espresso | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
It seems like only yesterday that The Roots Espresso opened up in North Sydney but the fact is, they have been open for just over 3 years now. I have been coming here since they opened, and even though I have seen baristas come and go, Brett and his team keep delivering consistently great coffees, day in and day out, coupled with delicious food offerings.
Kansas City Shuffle | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
The old Cadbury Chocolate Factory in The Rocks may have once been the sweetest building for miles, but fear not, we can rejoice that the building hasn’t been completely lost to corporate and residential hounds. Kansas City Shuffle has opened up and it’s a rocking addition to the area. The lineage is good here with chef Kayne Papworth, that wowed with Proud Mary, and Benny Sweeten who worked his magic by establishing Joe Black. And, by the way was also a barista at Proud Mary. Booyah!
Bay Ten Espresso | Sydney Australia | Food Video Review
Hidden away under the railway under-bridge that takes trains over the Sydney Harbour Bridge is Bay Ten Espresso. While the official address is Lavender Bay, it’s just a stone’s throw from high rise buildings of North Sydney. The cafe has been fashioned out of an old industrial bay, amongst a row of them which are home to car workshops and an ultra high end car showroom.
